Jane Pearce, B.A., DMS, FCCA
Jane joined Butterfield in February 2020 as Group Head of Trust based in our Guernsey office, and is a member of Butterfield's Group Executive Committee. In her role, Jane works with the Senior Trust Executive team to deliver the Group Trust strategy and value proposition across 7 jurisdictions, serving over 3,000 ultimate client groups with $133 billion in client assets under administration.
Jane began her career in accountancy with Ernst & Young and has worked in the corporate & funds industry for over 30 years, gaining extensive experience in administering and accounting for complex investment structures. Prior to Butterfield, Jane worked for the Vistra Group and was a Partner and Group Director at Ogier.
Jane is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
Matthew Coleman is our Head of Operations for Trust. Matthew is a Chartered Certified Accountant with over 30 years of diverse experience in the fiduciary industry. He joined Butterfield in 2014, following the acquisition of Legis Trust, where he previously held the role of Chief Administration Officer. Before his time with Butterfield and Legis Trust, Matthew gained valuable experience working with Northern Trust and Barings Trust Group.
Throughout his career, Matthew has built a strong foundation in operations, application and system management, client accounting, data analytics, and project management. His extensive experience has given him deep insights into the operational challenges and complexities of embedding restructuring and handling mergers and acquisitions within the industry. With a reputation for fostering efficient and effective processes,
Matthew is known for his strategic approach to operational excellence and ability to lead transformative projects. In addition to his fiduciary expertise, he has a keen interest in emerging technologies and is always exploring how they can enhance and streamline traditional business practices.
Nigel Mifsud
Nigel Mifsud joined Butterfield in 2023 and is our Group Head of Legal for Trust. Nigel is primarily responsible for advising on legal and regulatory issues across our Trust jurisdictions.
Nigel began his career as a Barrister after being called to the Bar of England and Wales and later the Gibraltar Bar. His career includes time as in-house Counsel for PricewaterhouseCoopers’ trust and corporate services and as a Director and Trustee with Credit Suisse in Zurich and Guernsey, gaining over 20 years of experience in the trust industry.
Nigel has been a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) since 2008. Bilingual in English and Spanish, Nigel also speaks French and is conversational in Italian.

Amy Glover
Amy joined Butterfield in January 2021 as VP, Strategic Relationships, based in London. In her role, Amy is responsible for developing key intermediary and client relationships across all Group Trust jurisdictions.
After studying Law in both the UK and US, Amy completed her LL.M at Wake Forest University, North Carolina. Amy began her career in legal research, going on to lead the private client portfolio for American Legal Media. In this capacity, Amy directed the group’s private client relationships, membership club, retreats and content.


Craig Barley is the Head of Caribbean Trust with responsibility for Butterfield’s trust operations in the Cayman Islands and The Bahamas, having served as Managing Director of The Bahamas since 2018. He has over 30 years’ experience in financial and legal services working in Brazil, the Cayman Islands, Switzerland and The Bahamas. Prior to joining Butterfield, Mr. Barley was the CEO of Latour Capital do Brasil. He has spent time working at other leading bank and trust companies and was the Founder and Managing Director of a family office and consultancy focused on Brazil. Mr. Barley holds a Bachelor of Law degree from the Faculdade de Direito Cândido Mendes at Rio de Janeiro, and is a member of Brazilian Bar Association and the Brazilian Chapter of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).
Pauline Creary-Lightbourne
Pauline Creary-Lightbourne is a VP, and the Head of Local Business in The Bahamas. Ms. Creary-Lightbourne joined our team 2018, as VP, Head of Trust & Fiduciary Services, and Corporate Secretary.
Pauline has over 43 years of experience in financial services, encompassing trust, compliance and securities and custodial operations. She previously held positions as General Manager of a Swiss-based Bank & Trust Company and also headed up a small spinoff Bahamian Trust Company as General Manager. During her career, she has held various levels of Management positions, Compliance Officer and Money Laundering Reporting Officer, Regulated positions Senior Official I and II, Corporate Secretary, with the Central Bank of The Bahamas and Registered Executive positions with Securities Commission of The Bahamas.
Pauline holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics with honors. She is a member of STEP since October 1996. In 2003, Pauline was awarded The Minister’s Award from the Ministry of Financial Services and Investments in recognition of over twenty years of contribution to the growth and Development of the Financial Services Industry of The Bahamas. She was also recognized by the Bahamas Association of Compliance Officers (BACO) for years of support, having served as a BACO Representative and Executive Committee Member of the Board and Assistant Secretary.


John has over 25 years’ experience managing complex trust structures for our ultra-high net worth families across multiple jurisdictions. He was previously with HSBC Private Bank (Bermuda) prior to joining BTBL in May 2016. John is a Director of Butterfield Trust (Bermuda) Limited and acts in a personal capacity on a variety of Boards, Foundations and Private Trust Companies. John is a member of the Institute of Directors.
Michelle Malpas
Michelle Malpas is a VP and Deputy Managing Director of the Trust team in Bermuda, with over 15 years of experience in the private client industry and seven years in risk and compliance. Michelle joined Butterfield in 2005 and later transitioned to Operational Risk Management, where she played a pivotal role in implementing the operational risk methodology across the Group. In 2010, Michelle was promoted to Vice President of Operational Risk Management, and in 2013, she transitioned back to Trust as Vice President of Trust Services and Deputy Managing Director. Over the last 25 years, Michelle has worked within many of Bermuda’s major law firms and trust companies and has garnered extensive experience in trust management and administration, wills/estates, company administration, and compliance and risk management. Michelle is a Director of Butterfield Trust (Bermuda) Limited. She received her Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners Dip (ITM) in 2003.

Christopher N. Ebanks
Chris leads a team of administrators responsible with handling all aspects of administration involved with a portfolio of complex trust and corporate structures for high and ultra-high net worth individuals and families.
He has over 20 years’ experience in the Trust Industry in the Cayman Islands. Prior to joining Butterfield Christopher worked with various major international private banks and trust companies and has an extensive knowledge of the industry standards and regulatory framework. He also holds a Bachelor of Laws degree and a Practitioners Certificate in Cayman Law.
Ethel McLean
Ethel leads a team of administrators responsible for all aspects of the administration of structures for ultra high/high net worth clients and developing long term relationships with them. Ethel Joined the team in 2018 as a result of the acquisition of Deutsche Bank Global Solutions in the Cayman Islands, where she had been employed as Vice President. Prior to that Ethel worked with Barclays Private Wealth Management for over 20 years.
Ethel is a member of the Society of Trust Estate Practitioners and also has a Professional Masters in Business Administration (Hons).



Mandy Langmead is the Managing Director for Butterfield Trust in Guernsey, being promoted at the start of 2024 after 4 years as Head of Fiduciary Management. Mandy originally joined Butterfield in 2018, bringing with her over 30 years of experience in dealing with the financial and succession planning needs of private clients and their families, with a particular focus on those clients from the UK, Canada and East Asia.
Mandy is responsible for the client relationship team and the delivery of an unrivalled client service. She is personally involved in a number of key relationships in addition to providing support across the broader relationship and management team .
Mandy was most recently a Private Client Director at RBC in Guernsey leading a client relationship team responsible for a portfolio of ultra-high net worth clients and managing their affairs through a broad range of fiduciary structures. She is well versed in the administration of traditional assets as well as complex dynastic planning across multiple jurisdictions, and in recent years has managed the structuring of significant joint venture property investments.
Mandy became an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers in 1996..
Stuart has over 27 years of experience working in the offshore trust sector, servicing both private and institutional trust clients. Stuart joined Butterfield in 2018 as part of Butterfield’s acquisition of Deutsche Bank’s offshore trust business, where he had worked for most of his career, originally in Guernsey and latterly as Head of their Mauritius and then Cayman Islands trust businesses. Having worked for Butterfield’s Cayman trust business on joining, as a Director and Head of Private & Institutional Clients, Stuart returned to Guernsey in 2020 and joined the Guernsey team. Stuart now holds the position of Senior Client Services Director within the Guernsey trust business and sits on the trust company board. During his career, especially in light of his multi-jurisdictional roles, Stuart has extensive experience in assisting clients from across the globe with their structuring needs, across a wide range of asset classes. Stuart holds the Chartered Governance Institute UK & Ireland and Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners professional qualifications.
Sarah-Jane has over 30 years’ experience in fiduciary and wealth management having worked in the industry since 1986, gaining invaluable offshore experience in both Bermuda (14 years) and Guernsey (22 years). Sarah-Jane has a wealth of experience in trust planning and administration of complex fiduciary structures for multi-jurisdictional, dynastic families and has experience in dealing with a multitude of assets, involving family businesses and art portfolios. Sarah-Jane takes an active role in client development in Western Europe and the Middle East for Butterfield. Sarah-Jane is a member of the Associate of Bankers and the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners and sits on the Guernsey Trust company board.



Yang-Ping Tang, ACIS, TEP
Mark Florance
Mark joined Butterfield in Singapore in 2018 as a Non-Executive Director and became the Executive Chairman for Asia in 2020. He took on the expanded role of interim Regional Head in September 2020. Throughout his time with Butterfield, Mark has showcased his extensive experience of the Asian market having been a resident in Singapore for nearly 30 years. Prior to joining Butterfield, Mark spent 35 years working in the financial services industry, much of that time with Rothschild, latterly as Executive Vice-Chairman for SE Asia responsible for senior client and government relationships, marketing investment banking and wealth management/trusts. Recent roles have included an independent directorship for a UK – listed company in the fund management space and sitting on the investment committees for a large private equity/venture capital fund in the climate investment sector. During his career, Mark has also specialised in establishing, managing and growing businesses. Mark is a member of the Singapore Institute of Directors.
Mark joined Butterfield in Singapore in 2020 and has been working in the private client industry for over 30 years, specialising in wealth planning and trust administration. Mark has extensive experience in dealing with multi-jurisdictional families and complex structuring for a wide variety of asset classes, including Private Trust Companies, commercial real estate, family office and art. In addition, Mark has helped families with their succession planning and probate issues, family governance requirements and philanthropic needs and has further managed a number of bespoke charitable trusts. During his career Mark has worked for banks, accountancy and law firms in the UK, including Coutts & Co and Charles Russell, before moving to Switzerland for 7 years where he worked for Credit Suisse Trust, covering the Asian and Middles Eastern markets. Mark moved to Singapore in 2014 with Credit Suisse Trust and has more recently been with BOS Trustee where he passed his vast knowledge and experience onto the families with whom he worked. Mark is a member of both the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and the Association of Taxation Technicians.
Yang-Ping Tang, ACIS, TEP
Yang-Ping has spent 19 years in the trust industry in Singapore, specialising in trust administration at Credit Suisse, Rothschild Trust, and Standard Chartered. Prior to joining the trust industry, Yang-Ping was in the corporate secretarial industry for eight years, and served as Corporate Secretary of a NASDAQ listed company. In addition to being a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, Yang-Ping is an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators. She speaks both English and Mandarin.

Elizabeth Chong is an AVP, Client Services at Butterfield Trust in Singapore. Prior to joining Butterfield, Elizabeth spent over 10 years in Trust Administration at both bank-owned and independent trust companies. Her current role includes maintaining client relationships and managing bespoke structures. She hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business from Nanyang Business School and is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.



Jim Parker
Jim has served as Country Head for Butterfield in Switzerland since it was established in 2007. Prior to this, Jim headed Barclays Wealth Advisory business in Switzerland and was a member of the Bank’s Executive Committee. He has nearly 40 years’ experience working directly with international families and held senior positions at Chase Manhattan Private Bank and Citibank Private Bank in the trust and fiduciary sector. Jim is an active member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), Geneva branch.
Phil Lenz
Phil was appointed Managing Director of Butterfield’s trust business in Switzerland in January 2023 having joined as Deputy Country Head in 2007. He has more than 20 years of corporate banking and wealth management experience. Prior to Butterfield, Phil was the Chief Administration Officer of the global wealth structuring division at Barclays with direct involvement in strategic planning, acquisitions and the administration of large and complex trust structures. He is a registered member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and holds a BSc in mathematics from Imperial College (London).
Kim Morgan-Carvalho
Kim was appointed Deputy Managing Director of Switzerland in 2023, having originally started her trust career at Butterfield in Bermuda. Based in Geneva for more than a decade, Kim was previously a director of a leading boutique trust company and spent time working in the private client and trust department of an international offshore law firm. She has significant experience in trust and company management, including private trust company structures, foundations and employee benefits trusts. Kim has also managed a wide range of assets from fine art to yachts, private equity and property. She holds the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) Diploma in International Trust Management and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Cardiff University.
