Michael Collins
Michael Collins is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Butterfield Group, also joining the Board in 2015 upon being named CEO. He was named Chairman in July of 2017. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Collins was Senior Executive Vice President with responsibility for all of the Bank's client businesses in Bermuda, including Corporate, Private and Retail Banking, as well as the Operations, Custody and Marketing functions in Bermuda and the Cayman Islands. Mr. Collins has more than 30 years of experience in financial services, having held progressively senior positions at Morgan Guaranty Trust Company in New York and later at Bank of Bermuda and HSBC in Bermuda. Before joining Butterfield in 2009, Mr. Collins was Chief Operating Officer at HSBC Bank Bermuda. Mr. Collins holds a BA in Economics from Brown University.
Craig Bridgewater
Craig Bridgewater is the Group Chief Financial Officer, serving in his current role since May 2022 after 3 years as Group Head of Finance.
Prior to joining Butterfield, Mr. Bridgewater was a Partner at KPMG where he spent 18 years working in both Bermuda and the US with responsibility for clients in banking, asset management and insurance-linked securities as well as prominent local industries including retail and hospitality. Before KPMG, Mr. Bridgewater worked at Orbis Investment Management Limited and Price Waterhouse (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) where he began his career.
He is a Fellow of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Bermuda and Canada. He holds a Bachelor’s degree with Honours (Carleton University, Ottawa) in Economics.
Andrew Burns
Andrew Burns is an Executive Vice President and the Chief Risk Officer, Cayman Islands.
Prior to his appointment as Chief Risk Officer for the Cayman Islands, Mr. Burns served as the Group Head of Human Resources (from 2020) and as Group Head of Internal Audit (from 2016-2020). He became a member of the Executive Committee in October 2017. Mr. Burns has more than 20 years of progressive leadership experience in the financial services sector, having begun his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers’ financial services group in Australia. He first joined the Butterfield Group of companies in the Fund Services subsidiary in Bermuda, before transferring to the Internal Audit team in 2007, where he has held progressively senior management roles.
Mr. Burns is a Chartered Accountant (CA ANZ) and a Certified Internal Auditor. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne, Australia.
Kevin Dallas
Kevin Dallas is the Group Chief Experience Officer, responsible for overseeing the overall client experience, as well as the Group Head of Marketing & Communications, a position he has held since 2020.
Mr. Dallas has extensive experience in marketing strategy and customer-led growth. Prior to joining Butterfield, Mr. Dallas worked as a strategy consultant, was a Partner at Bain & Company, and spent time as Chief Product & Marketing Officer at Worldpay plc in London before he returned home to Bermuda to lead the Bermuda Tourism Authority.
Mr. Dallas holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Brown University.
Simon Des-Etages
Simon Des-Etages is the General Counsel and Group Chief Legal Officer, joining Butterfield in 2024. He has more than 30 years of legal experience working in London, New York, Bermuda and the Cayman Islands, primarily within the banking industry. Mr. Des-Etages started his career in private practice as a solicitor in the London offices of Slaughter and May, followed by Baker & McKenzie, before joining American Express to support the securities, treasury and trade finance teams. Mr. Des-Etages then moved to Merrill Lynch, where he spent eight years working as a senior counsel in the Global Private Client Group. Prior to joining Butterfield, he was the Global Head of Legal for HSBC’s Global Private Banking and Wealth Management having worked at HSBC since 2004. He holds a Master of Laws (LLM) from University College London and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Essex, UK.
Jody Feldman
Jody Feldman is the Managing Director of Bermuda, a position he has held since January 2024. Before his promotion to Managing Director, Mr. Feldman was the Head of Corporate Banking in Bermuda.
Jody has spent two decades working in the financial services sector in London, New York and Bermuda. Prior to returning to Bermuda to join Butterfield, Mr. Feldman was the Managing Director and Head of Financial Institutions (North America) for the Corporate Banking team at Deutsche Bank in New York. He also served as Co-Head of the Insurance Council, focusing on increasing sales and trading revenues with insurance companies by leveraging relationships across the banking and markets teams.
Mr. Feldman started his career at HSBC where he spent 15 years working with financial institution clients. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a graduate of Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania.
Bri Hidalgo
Bri Hidalgo is the Group Head of Compliance and Operational Risk, joining the company in September 2020.
Before joining Butterfield, Ms. Hidalgo spent 14 years with Wells Fargo Bank in compliance and risk management roles, with her most recent role having been Chief Risk Officer, Wealth & Investment Management. Prior to Wells Fargo, Bri worked in senior risk management and compliance roles at Wachovia Securities and First State Investments in the US and the UK.
Ms. Hidalgo holds a Bachelor of Science degree from San Francisco State University.
Sean Lee
Sean Lee is the Group Head of Human Resources, a role he has held since October 2024.
Mr Lee is an experienced leader who has spent nearly 20 years working in financial services with a focus on retail banking. He served previously as the Executive Vice President and Head of Retail Banking at Butterfield in the Cayman Islands and, before that, was Head of Business Banking at HSBC Bermuda.
Before joining the banking industry, Mr. Lee served in the US Navy for over 20 years. He holds an MBA from Baker University and an undergraduate degree from Connecticut College.
Michael McWatt
Michael McWatt is the Managing Director of Butterfield Bank (Cayman) Limited with responsibility for leading the Group’s Cayman operations.
Prior to being appointed Managing Director in 2016, he held the senior positions of EVP Deputy Managing Director in the Cayman Islands and Group Chief Credit Officer in Bermuda. Michael is a career banker with more than 30 years of experience in Canada, Bermuda and the Cayman Islands, 19 of which have been with Butterfield. Before joining Butterfield in 1999, Mr. McWatt held progressively senior positions in corporate banking, commercial lending and risk management for TD Bank and Scotiabank in Canada.
Michael is a graduate of the Executive Program from Ivey at Western University and holds both an Honours Commerce degree from the University of Windsor and a BA in Economics from McMaster University. He is a Director and Past President of the Cayman Islands Bankers’ Association and a Director on the Board of Cayman Finance.
Michael Neff
Michael Neff is Butterfield's Group Chief Operating Officer, a position he has held since January 2024. Prior to that role, he served as Managing Director of Bermuda and International Wealth from 2018 having previously served as the Bank's Group Head of Wealth Management.
Mr. Neff has over 30 years of experience in financial services, having held senior roles in wealth management, commercial banking, and financial risk management. He began his career at Chemical Bank’s Private Banking Group, rising to serve on the Group’s Executive Committee and leading relationship management across the group. Later, Mr. Neff moved to Citibank’s Private Banking Group, where he led the design and implementation of a global client relationship framework before leaving to found a financial and investment planning technology consultancy. The firm grew to be a leading provider of financial and investment planning software for financial institutions in the U.S. and Europe. It was acquired in 2004 by the RiskMetrics Group, a JPMorgan risk advisory spinoff. There he initially served as Global Head of Wealth Management rising to become Co-Head of the firm’s Global Financial Risk Management business.
Mr. Neff holds a Bachelor of Arts from Middlebury College and a Master of Business Administration from Columbia Business School.
Jane Pearce
Jane Pearce joined Butterfield in February 2020 as Group Head of Trust based in our Guernsey office. In her current role, Jane works with the Senior Trust team to deliver the Group Trust strategy and value proposition across our jurisdictions, serving over 1,500 ultimate client groups with $129.5 billion in client assets under administration.
Jane began her career in accountancy with Ernst & Young and has worked in the corporate & funds industry for over 20 years, gaining extensive experience in administering and accounting for complex investment structures. Prior to joining Butterfield, Jane worked for the Vistra Group and was a Partner and Group Director at Ogier.
Jane is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
Richard Saunders
Richard Saunders is the Managing Director for the Channel Islands & UK, a position he has held since 2018.
His current role includes taking on responsibility for Butterfield’s Jersey operations in addition to his role as Managing Director, Butterfield Bank (Guernsey) Limited, a position he has held since 2015. Mr. Saunders joined Butterfield in 2000 as Head of the Guernsey investment management business and was later promoted to Head of European Asset Management, with responsibility for discretionary management for private client portfolios. He is also a member of the Bank’s Asset Management Executive Committee, which sets the strategic direction of Butterfield’s investment operations globally. Mr. Saunders' prior experience includes seven years with RBC dealing with private client investments.
He is a Chartered Member of the London-based Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (“CISI”) and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Sports Science from Loughborough University.
Michael Schrum
Michael Schrum is the President and Group Chief Risk Officer, a position he has held since May 2022.
He joined the Board of Directors in 2020 and served as Group Chief Financial Officer from 2015. He was previously Chief Financial Officer at HSBC Bank Bermuda. Mr. Schrum has more than 25 years of financial services experience in London, New York and Bermuda, mainly in banking, insurance and tax. He joined HSBC Bermuda in 2001 and held progressively more senior positions within the bank’s Commercial Banking, Strategy, and Finance divisions.
He is a CFA Charterholder (CFA Institute), and a Fellow Chartered Accountant (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales). Mr. Schrum holds a Master’s (University of London) and Bachelor’s (Southern Denmark Business School) degree in Economics.
