What we do
We have reduced our base interest rates on loans and mortgages by 0.25%.
The Bermuda Dollar Base Rate for Consumer Loans has decreased from 7.50% to 7.25% effective 22 September 2025.
The Bermuda Dollar Base Rate for Corporate Loans has decreased from 8.50% to 8.25% effective 22 September 2025.
The rate for US Dollar Loans has decreased from 8.50% to 8.25% effective 22 September 2025.
The Bermuda Dollar Base Rate for Residential Mortgages has decreased from 7.50% to 7.25%. For existing residential mortgage holders, this change will take effect in 90 days.
British Airways Visa Platinum Card Benefits update
Auto Rental Insurance to be removed
Please be advised that effective 1 October 2021, Visa will discontinue Auto Rental Insurance1 as a benefit for the Butterfield British Airways Visa Platinum card. Visa will introduce new benefits in the future, at which time we will advise.
Cardholders who have used their Butterfield British Airways Visa Platinum card to rent at eligible auto rentals starting on or before 30 September 2021 will be covered by the current benefit. Auto rentals starting on or after 1 October 2021 will not be covered.
Additionally, effective 1 October 2021 a Travel Certificate2 must be generated prior to a trip in order for it to be covered under International Emergency Medical Services. An Extended Warranty certificate2 is also mandatory prior to opening a claim. These certificates can be generated through the Visa Benefits Portal at visa.com.
