Making payments to your account, is easy:
Credit Card Payment Options – BMD or USD
Please indicate on your application whether you wish to pay your account in Bermuda Dollars or US dollars. If you elect to make your credit card payment in Bermuda Dollars, we automatically charge your account with applicable Foreign Currency Purchase Tax (FCPT) and Foreign Exchange (FX). Bermuda Dollar transactions are not subject to FCPT or FX. If you make your credit card payment in US Dollars, FCPT and FX charges do not apply.
A US cross-border fee will be applied on all transactions completed outside of Bermuda, including those made in the US. Butterfield is absorbing a part of this fee, but a portion will be added to your charges for US transactions. For example, a transaction of $100.00 done in the US will attract a “US cross border fee - $0.60” and be shown as a separate line item. You may review the Schedule of Charges to find the US cross-border fee specific to your card.

Making a purchase with your Debit or Credit card is even more secure when making a payment using a Chip-enabled terminal and choosing to pay using your PIN. And for purchases of US$150 and below, making purchases are faster and easier by simply tapping your card over the contactless reader to make a purchase.
Our Chip and PIN Cards will continue to support magnetic stripe-based transactions at merchants who are not equipped to process Chip-based transactions.

A card alert is a push notification that is triggered based on the criteria that you select in the Butterfield Card Alerts App.
You have the autonomy to choose the value or type of transaction of which you wish to receive alerts. This can be modified any time.
You should proceed to activate the blocks on your Control Preferences and contact the Call Centre for your location so that the charge back process can be initiated and a new card issued.
Yes. All cards linked to your Butterfield Card Alerts App will trigger alerts. Also, supplementary cardholder can also receive alerts if app is downloaded and set up on their mobile phone.
