This position reports to the Senior Vice President, Group Head of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer and is responsible for ensuring that the company’s data and application interfaces are organised, robust and fit for purpose by strategically designing, developing, and implementing interfaces and data models for enterprise-level applications and systems.
Your responsibilities will include:
- understanding all the components of the banking platforms and interactions/interfaces with internal and external applications
- facilitating discussions and resolving conflicts around technical approaches, designs, and application interdependencies
- participating in the evaluation and implementation of third party applications, software and tools
- augmenting business strategy with expertise on technology drivers and trends, and aligning with the Bank’s technology vision and long term strategy
- balancing trade-offs between short-term business gain and long-term solutions strategy
- determining roadmaps and ensuring execution plans are aligned with business goals
- creating short-term tactical solutions to achieve long-term objectives and an overall data management roadmap
- establishing processes for governing the identification, collection, and use of corporate metadata; take steps to assure metadata accuracy and validity
- ensuring that data strategies and architectures are in regulatory compliance
- ensuring the success of enterprise-level application enhancement rollouts (e.g., Online, FCUBS, SAP, Portia, Navision and SOA)
- liaising with the technology partner to oversee selection of products or services that best meet company goals, assessing and determining governance, stewardship, and frameworks for managing data across the organisation
- collaborating and communicating with key stakeholders at all levels, from employee to executive management
- identifying and executing cost savings and/or avoidance initiatives specific to data related spend
- overseeing the mapping of data sources, data movement, interfaces, and analytics, with the goal of ensuring data quality
- collaborating with project managers and business unit leaders for all projects involving enterprise data
- addressing data-related problems in regards to systems integration, compatibility, and multiple-platform integration
Your qualifications and skills include:
- university degree in computer science, information systems, or computer engineering with a minimum of ten years’ experience in financial services applications and data, at a senior level
- hands-on experience with FCUBS, Portia, Online Banking, Interbank clearing and EDI.
- good knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
- advanced understanding of relational data structures, theories, principles, and practices
- strong familiarity with metadata management and associated processes
- hands-on knowledge of enterprise repository tools, data modeling tools, data mapping tools, and data profiling tools
- demonstrated expertise with repository creation, and data and information system life cycle methodologies
- experience with business requirements analysis, entity relationship planning, database design, and reporting structures
- experience with database platforms, including Oracle, SQL, etc.
- understanding and proficiency with Web services (SOAP, XML, UDDI, WSDL)
- object-oriented programming knowledge (e.g., using Java, J2EE, EJB, .NET, WebSphere, etc.)
- experience with data processing flowcharting techniques and software
- proven senior level project management experience
- proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applications and advanced level Excel skills including, but not limited to, macros, pivot tables, etc.
