Reporting to the EVP, Group Chief Risk Officer, the Vice President, Credit Risk Management is responsible for directing and controlling Bermuda’s Credit Risk function.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Acting as Deputy Chairman of Group Credit Committee.
- Directing and controlling Bermuda’s credit risk associated with all aspects of the Balance Sheet.
- Developing and communicating strategic objectives, budgets and plans for the credit risk management function.
- Developing and maintaining a framework of credit policies and procedures within the Bank’s risk profile.
- Reporting to senior management and the Board of Directors on all credit risk management activities.
- Managing problem loan work-outs.
- Reviewing independent loan review reports and implementing effective solutions.
- Develop and maintain ongoing management reporting on key portfolio characteristics and trends.
- Taking responsibility for the implementation of the Bank’s Basel II Credit Accord.
- Providing guidance on credit collections strategy and priorities.
- Participating as a member of vital strategic steering committees.
- Representing the Bank to customers and to the community at large in business, community and social settings.
- Serving as part of top management in the development of long-range planning.
- Monitoring the Credit portfolio for quality and profitability within the Bank’s risk profile.
- Developing strong working relationships with Lending Officers to ensure that all viable credit proposals are being referred and that credit risk principals are understood.
- Acting as a Mentor and ensures development opportunities are available for the Department.
- Keeping abreast of local and international economic, financial, political and legislative events, trends and climates that could impact the credit environment.
- Active participation in developing stress tests and recovery plans.
Your qualifications and skills include:
- A university degree in Commerce or Finance with a minimum of ten years relevant experience or equivalent.
- Extensive International credit experience in a similar position. Strong data analytics skills.
- Specialist knowledge in credit risk management and loan evaluation for retail and commercial lending, as well as related procedures and controls associated with multi-jurisdictional loan portfolios.
- In-depth knowledge of the Basel II Credit Risk Accord and relevant implementation issues, have a good understanding of credit risk regulatory requirements, communicating with regulators (verbally and in writing)
- Proven team management, development and leadership skills.
- Superior communication, client relationship, organization, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations and confidential information with absolute discretion.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
