Assistant Vice President – Mortgage Lending
This position reports to the Vice President – Consumer Credit and is responsible for supporting the management and development of a profitable consumer lending business.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Interviewing middle and upscale market clients for personal loans, mortgages, credit cards and overdraft facilities and making the appropriate recommendations to the Vice President for approval
- Managing customers’ loan portfolios by resolving queries on rates, terms, limits and increases
- Managing and providing leadership and direction to a team of consumer credit lenders ensuring that they provide an optimum level of productivity
- Providing credit approval within delegated credit limits and policy guidelines, ensure that all credit applications requiring next level approvals are supported with requisite documentation and comprehensively prepared recommendations
- Assuming full responsibility for planned campaigns to sell and grow consumer credit by initiating and managing programs to develop new products for consumer loans and mortgages
- Mentoring, training and coaching designated staff to assist with team initiatives
- Managing relationships with lawyers, merchants, dealers, realtors and other sources of business
- Preparing weekly sales tracking figures for review by management
- Assisting the Vice President and deputising as required to meet departmental goals
- Assisting with yearly audit reviews
Your qualifications and skills include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business plus three years relevant experience or equivalent
- Highly developed interviewing skills and techniques
- Ability to prioritise workload and address issues in a timely manner
- Ability to objectively assess situations, to think quickly and form a sound judgement
- Ability to build, gain and secure good client relationships
- Strong oral/verbal communications skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiar with banking products
- Proven ability to manage employees
- Knowledge of Basel II requirements
