Butterfield Launches Digital Account Opening
George Town, Cayman Islands — 3 February 2026: Butterfield has launched a digital account opening service for personal banking clients in the Cayman Islands, meaning residents can now apply to open a new bank account online and without the need to visit a Banking Centre.
Using the digital application form on Butterfield’s website, residents can apply for chequing, savings, fixed term deposit or supersaver accounts from the comfort of their own home and in as little as 15 minutes. The application process includes the ability to securely upload identity verification documents and to use electronic signatures.
The launch of the digital service means existing Butterfield clients are also able to provide any requested documentation to complete periodic reviews digitally, removing the need to provide physical or certified copies.
