Vice President, Group Head of Market Risk
The position reports to the Executive Vice President, Group Chief Risk Officer and is responsible for independent market risk analysis and reporting at the Group level. Duties include but are not limited to custody of market risk management governance processes, quantitative analyses and reporting of balance sheet risk, Treasury’s P&L calculations, position tracking against limits, and risk management reporting for the investment portfolio.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Measuring and reporting price and interest rate exposures that the Bank would experience under a variety of normal and extreme market conditions and across all asset and liability classes globally
- Validating and approving pricing and valuation models for trading and investment positions developing comprehensive recommendations based on the analysis of current business processes and systems
- Advising on the modelling of complex securities transactions
- Reporting market risk information to executive management, the Board of Directors and key external stakeholders
- Participating in evaluating and introducing new products and businesses having the potential to affect the Bank’s market risk profile
- Managing market risk limit parameters within systems, and ensuring the integrity of product/position pricing
- Performing balance sheet risk modelling and recommending risk mitigation strategies
- Independently confirming the effectiveness of risk, hedging and capital usage practices and recommends new measures and strategies to improve risk/reward profile
- Ensuring regulatory compliance and disclosures concerning market risk management
- Assisting with the development and implementation of the Enterprise Risk Management frameworks and reporting
- Reporting to the Asset and Liability Committee with regard to the above-stated accountabilities.
- Sponsoring implementation of information systems and applications to enhance or automate processes, in accordance with market risk policy and strategy.
- Training, directing and developing Group Market Risk staff.
- Overseeing daily operations and act as an internal consultant on derivative instrument and hedge accounting under U.S. GAAP.
Your qualifications and skills include:
- An advanced degree or professional accounting qualification (CA, CPA, CFA) plus six years’ relevant experience or equivalent; CFA or FRM designation preferred
- Experience in US GAAP for financial instruments including derivatives and hedging activities
- In-depth knowledge of market risk characteristics of trading, investment, and hedging products
- Excellent working knowledge of front, middle and back office operations
- Expertise in spreadsheet and database applications in solving complex problems
- Experience in systems project sponsorship preferred
- Ability to lead and motivate staff
