Reporting to the Head of Group Operational Risk, the incumbent is responsible for supporting the successful execution of Butterfield’s Operational Risk Management programmes with particular focus on Business Continuity Management.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining and developing the Group’s Business Continuity Management programme.
- Liaising with and supporting business continuity coordinators to develop effective working relationships.
- Coordinating and managing the Group Business Impact and Continuity Resource Analysis process, identifying, documenting and testing business recovery requirements and identifying recovery gaps.
- Facilitating and supporting the Crisis Management Team (CMT) and execution of business continuity plans in the time of a crisis event and providing reports to the CMT as needed.
- Assisting with the design, and organising of tests and exercises on the business plans and CMT execution
- Developing Operational Risk Management standards and tools that align to industry practices and ensuring effective processes to identify, measure, manage, monitor and report on operational risks.
- Developing and establishing operational risk policies and standards while providing oversight and objective challenges to the first line of defence.
- Evaluating the risks associated with all change initiatives proposed, making appropriate recommendations to mitigate risks.
- Providing regular reporting on the status of Butterfield’s risk and internal control profile and performance against declared risk appetites.
- Managing investigations into the root causes of risk incidents and providing support to mitigate risk.
- Overseeing the development and successful implementation of action plans to address any breaches.
- Assisting the Head of Group Operational Risk with Group initiatives and programmes.
- Ensuring that documentation of policies and procedures meet Group policy and standards and assisting with risk management policies in collaboration with Senior Management.
- Assisting with Third Party Risk management to include outsourcing and vendor management.
- Providing guidance on reporting requirements as it relates to Group MI, KRI’s and Risk Appetite reporting, Incident Management, Business Continuity and Complaints etc.
- Building professional relationships with internal stakeholders to consult on risk management initiatives, driving efficiency of business operations and process enhancements.
Your qualifications and skills include:
- The candidate should be educated to degree level in a Business or Risk Management related field. Professional qualification in risk management or Business Continuity Management preferred.
- 10+ years’ relevant experience in an Operational Risk or Business Continuity Management related role within the financial services industry.
- Strong knowledge of banking, trust and asset management required.
- Strong communication skills (both oral and written) and negotiation skills.
- Ability to motivate teams and to work to tight deadlines.
- Ability to multi-task, handle competing priorities, and follow through on commitments
- Ability to promptly and appropriately escalate risks and/or control failures, to the Head of Operational Risk.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
