The Compliance Testing Analyst is responsible for evaluating and assessing Butterfield's compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry standards. The incumbent will be responsible for providing support to the compliance testing program across a variety of Butterfield’s operating jurisdictions.
About the Team
The Compliance department ensures that the Bank complies with all applicable laws and regulations in the jurisdictions it operates, and it plays an essential role in helping to preserve the integrity and reputation of our business. It is responsible for establishing regulatory policies within the Bank and monitoring changes in economic conditions and regulatory requirements keeping Butterfield is up-to-date with the latest thinking.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting comprehensive testing and assessments to determine the organization's adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and policies.
- Evaluating potential compliance risks and vulnerabilities arising from emerging risks and how the Bank has embedded changes and requirements.
- Understanding business operations and compliance risks, and consequently conducting thorough reviews of processes to identify gaps and weaknesses.
- Developing and executing testing plans, including sample selection, data analysis, and documentation of findings.
- Following up on prior identified findings and ensuring adequate closure of issues.
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders to understand business operations and identify compliance risks.
- Assisting with other duties as assigned and where support is required.
Your qualifications and skills include:
- Minimum of two years’ experience in financial services or, with a degree level education and one year of experience in financial services.
- Encompass a level of understanding of the role of Compliance and Risk Management within a financial services firm; inquisitive and open to learning and growth
- Good verbal and written communication skills and ability to reach out to diverse and geographically distributed teams.
- Ability to work both independently and within a multi-disciplinary team, delivering high-quality work within tight timeframes.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to facilitate the data collation required for investigations, monitoring and surveillance.
- High ethical standards with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with absolute discretion.
- Develop an ability to identify trends and areas of risk and provide written examples of the same to onshore Compliance teams to facilitate discussion and/or reporting.
