Assistant Portfolio Manager
This position reports to the Senior Portfolio Manager and is responsible for supporting the portfolio managers in the daily management of the fixed income and money market funds as well as institutional and private client discretionary accounts.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Portfolio management of funds
- Supporting the portfolio managers in the daily operational management of the funds and the fixed income book of business
- Executing orders, with guidance from the portfolio managers, for money market and other fixed income securities
- Developing a full understanding of money market and fixed income instruments
- Monitoring interest rate and credit markets across relevant currencies
- Analysing global economic data and individual company news releases
- Building and maintaining contact with approved brokers to gain knowledge of market activity and depth
- Maintaining knowledge of our range of products and services, ensuring that our policies, procedures and styles are adhered to
- Attending and actively participating in various investment meetings (Policy, Fixed-income and Fund Council meetings)
- Researching and analysing global market trends in the fixed income markets as it relates to credit sectors
- Implementing and monitoring approved investment strategies in the funds/accounts
- Assisting with the preparation of quarterly investment reports for key clients, oversight committees and Fund Boards
- Developing certain credit analysis responsibilities either on a sector or company level
- Assisting in the completion of all administrative/compliance documents required and in reviewing fund and client valuations for their accuracy
Your qualifications and skills include:
- Strong academic background with minimum Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field
- Candidate would be strongly encouraged to pursue CFA designation
- Excel spreadsheet skills essential, with Bloomberg experience beneficial
- Minimum of three years’ experience in a professional capacity
- Excellent interpersonal/communication skills, both oral and written
- Ability to prioritise and multi-task, working under pressure, taking appropriate action and maintaining sound investment judgement and recommendations while ensuring high quality of output at all times
- Highly motivated individual work on own initiative as a team member within a very demanding work environment
- Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite
