We understand the importance of education and are proud to empower young people to pursue their aspirations. The annual scholarship programme offers financial assistance to a number of promising students each year based on academic excellence, community involvement, sporting attainments, financial need, and a candidate’s demonstrated ability to lead.

Chiaje Rudo, from Bermuda and a graduate of The Berkeley Institute, is set to begin her first year of study in Psychology at the University of Western Ontario and has been awarded $30,000 per year towards her undergraduate studies. Chiaje aspires to become a child psychologist so that she can make a meaningful impact on the lives of others, particularly children and their families. Dedicated to giving back, Ms Rudo has supported and volunteered at a number of charitable organisations and, in her downtime, plays netball and football for Berkeley and Dandy Stars. Chiaje was selected as the overall winner of the 38th Annual Bermuda Outstanding Teen Awards, also winning the female Academic Achievement category.
Butterfield Undergraduate Scholarship (Cayman)
Isabella McGeough from the Cayman Islands has been awarded $30,000 per year towards her studies in Chemical Engineering at Loughborough University. A graduate of the United World College in Costa Rica, Isabella is a passionate environmental ambassador with Human Climate Horizons and has completed training at the Central Caribbean Marine Institute (CCMI) Cayman Islands. She aims to use her post-university expertise to focus on environmental sustainability and green energy chemical principles and to contribute to the development of eco-friendly processes. Outside her studies, she enjoys sports, including football, beach volleyball, scuba diving and running.

Ramaya Edwards, from Bermuda, has been awarded $25,000 per academic year towards her ongoing studies of Biochemistry at Dalhousie University. Ramaya is the co-president of the Black Student Support Association, where she advocates for a safe and inclusive space for students, and is an active member of her church youth group. She is passionate about helping people, assisting with events for local charities and volunteering as a cook for children and parents at IWK Hospital.

Bob Cunningham Lomax, from Guernsey, will receive $25,000 for the upcoming academic year to support his studies in English at Southampton University. A former student of Elizabeth College in Guernsey, Mr. Cunningham Lomax has been an active member of the Combined Cadet Force, climbing to the rank of Sergeant. He has also contributed to many drama productions and debating championships.

Gabrielle Ebanks, from Cayman, has been awarded $25,000 per academic year towards her studies in Kinesiology at Kings University in Canada. Ms. Ebanks is an avid football player, playing for the Cayman Islands’ Senior Women’s National Football team. She was also selected to participate in the Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce Mentoring programme, which pairs top-achieving students with professionals in the community.
